Dear Families, Students and Old Scholars
I would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to our new Year 7 students and to Year 12 students who begin a new chapter in their lives at RGS this term. I am delighted to say that our summer examination results confirm that they, and indeed all of our students, are exactly in the right place!
Last year’s Year 11 students achieved the best 5 A*-C results on the island. There were a number of outstanding individual performances, with Louisa Burton topping the list of GCSEs with an outstanding 10 A*s and 1 A. Our A Level results were the best on the island with a pass rate of 99.7% with 52% grades at A* A B. Our top A Level performer was Matthew Simpson who gained 4 A*s confirming a university place to train as a doctor. Well done to all of our examination students and to the hard working staff of the school whose efforts have been justly rewarded by these results.
This term we are launching our new Ramsey Grammar School “Way of Being” which has been created by students and staff of the school. Our Way of Being defines the values and principles which guides our thinking and behaviour and supports our quest for “Excellence for All”. I have included a copy of the Way of Being in this month’s RGS Mail and would be pleased if you could reinforce these values and what they stand for with your children at home. We are hoping that these values will help us all to be more consistent in our expectations and in our way of behaviour and working, and also that they will help us to be the best people we can possibly be in every endeavour that we undertake.
I take this opportunity to welcome the new staff at RGS:
Mrs A Skelding, Team Leader of Design and Information Technologies
Dr S Podmore, Teacher of Science
Mr D McConnell, Teacher of Science
Miss V Garner, Graduate Teacher of Computer Science
Mrs R Stevenson, Teacher of French/Spanish
I wish everyone a happy and successful new academic year and look forward to working in partnership with our Families Supporting learning.
Mrs A Baker
